While the trustees work towards the restoration and reopening of the Resolven Miners Welfare, we have decided to keep everyone up to date on what’s happening via a ‘monthly update’ post through our website. This is the first of what we hope will be many updates for people to be kept informed. Here is an update on what has been happening during the past few weeks:
FUNDING – We have been in contact with multiple funding organisations to ascertain what we need to do to access large scale funding for the restoration of the building. It will take many months to gather all of the information and formulate a strategy so that we and all funders can work together.
PARTNERSHIPS – Our supporting partners Coalfield Regeneration Trust and Neath Port Talbot Council for Voluntary Service are helping us resolve ongoing legal problems with CISWO. This is currently hindering our applications for large scale funding.
VOLUNTEERS – Meeting with the volunteers and building a plan of action for the future. It was decided that a monthly ‘newsletter’ style post be sent out across social media to update the public on the progress of the restoration project. It was also decided that the trustees would schedule a monthly public meeting (to be announced soon) where they would be available to take face to face questions from the community.
BUILDING INSURANCE – Our complaint is still in the hands of the financial ombudsman and we await their decision.
FEASIBILITY STUDY – We have received the final version of our feasibility study and are currently in the process of getting things ready to send to funding organisations.
