Sian is a new comer to Resolven settling in the village only a few years ago. She loves living here and has always felt welcomed by her neighbours and other villagers. She became a trustee of the Welfare, not only to help the building reach its full potential but to get more involved in community life.

For her day job, Sian is the Project Coordinator for the Community Companions befriending service at Neath Port Talbot Council for Voluntary Service. Sian has enjoyed a diverse career but now feels settled in the voluntary sector. She loves working in the sector because she meets so many people who are passionate about making Wales a great place to live.

At university, Sian studied Performing Arts and Theatre Studies and upon her graduation in 2008 set up her theatre company, ShellShock. The company toured productions to many prestigious festivals and venues including the Edinburgh Fringe and London Southbank Centre. The company was also involved in a number of community engagement projects. Although her theatrical work is now less prominent in her life, she is still involved in the alternative arts scene in Swansea. One of her ambitions is to one day put on a production in the incredible theatre space, currently disused, in the Welfare building.

Sian is also a celebrant for Humanists UK and writes and performs non-religious wedding ceremonies. As well as volunteering as a trustee, Sian is a Time To Change Wales Champion and Dementia Champion. She is fascinated by the natural world and believes that we all have a responsibility to protect our planet and all those we share with it.
