The Resolven Miners Welfare were immensely proud to sponsor the Welfare Ladies Group this Easter weekend. They and a number of volunteers helped Resolven celebrate Easter with an Easter Egg Hunt on the Neath Canal. Here is a message from one of the organisers, Diane Sims:
“It started off as an idea but became a community effort with people knitting chicks, painting stones, donating easter eggs, packing them into treat bags, going out to hide them, and some even dressed up they all contributed with donations and more importantly their time and effort to make an idea a reality. Thank you to all the following groups, volunteers, and businesses:
- Welfare Ladies Group who organised it,
- Jane Llewellyn, Pam Jones, and Julie Bevan for their knitting skills,
- Resolven Miners Welfare, Councillor Dean Lewis, Gary McKeown, Lloyd Bayliss for their support,
- Fiona Williams and Julia watts for turning up to help make the trail along the canal,
- Ty Banc,
- All the children who coloured in the easter egg signs,
- Emily and Lillia Gladwin for helping to paint rocks to hide,
- Special mention to the Easter bunny who entertained and made us all smile over the canal and in the park later on the day.
None of it would happen without people joining in and enjoying themselves so thank you all for taking the children to join in the hunt.
It has been gloomy lately but Resolven came together again yesterday to smile.
